(1.) IIT-Delhi start-up TouchVision bags award
TouchVision an IIT delhi start-up was awarded the NCPEDP-Mphasis Universal Design Award 2019. TouchVision working on the design and development of inclusive learning resources for visually impaired people won the award for developing a multisensory kit. The device narrates the content in the picture when a visually impaired person touches it. TouchVision aims at digital inclusion for 253 million persons with visual impairment globally.
(2.) Odisha to implement Centre’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme
The Odisha government has announced that it will implement the Centre’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ initiative in the State starting from September 1. The initiative will be implemented on a pilot basis for ration card holders under the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, and subsequently across the State.
The Central government’s ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ initiative was launched recently. Once implemented fully, it will enable the beneficiaries to procure ration from any fair price shop across the country.
(3.) Odisha government will deploy Swachh Saathis to raise awareness about Segregation of Wet and Dry Waste.
The Odisha government has mooted deploying ‘Swachh Saathis’, ground-level workers, who would act as agents to bring about collective behavioural changes at the household level regarding waste collection.
They would raise awareness on collection of segregated waste to ensure decentralising of wet waste and collection of dry waste.
Swachh Saathis, who will be nominated by women self-help groups of the locality, must not have educational qualification below Class XI.
The government has suggested that an incentive of ₹4,000 per month should be paid to Swachh Saathis for every 600 households.
(4.) Arunachal’s Hollongi airport will be complete by March 2022.
Union Minister of State (Independent) for Civil Aviation Hardeep Singh Puri, during a videoconference with Arunachal Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, said that the Centre would assist the State to ensure that the Hollongi airport is completed by March 31, 2022.
The airport was initially scheduled to be built at Karsingsa, also near Itanagar, where former Union Minister Shivraj Patil had laid the foundation stone in 2008. The Tuki government rejected the site in 2012 due to “geographical complications” and opted for Hollongi.
(5.) Maharashtra government Cabinet ok for AMRUT to help Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) youth.
Maharashtra Government proposed Academy of Maharashtra Research, Upliftment and Training (AMRUT) will be an autonomous body like the BARTI, SARTHI and MAHAJYOTI that will work for the welfare of the EWS youth.
BARTI: – The Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute’s (BARTI) aim, among others, is to provide opportunities to the Scheduled Caste youths in various sectors, to work or to start their own micro enterprises.
SARTHI: – The Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research Training and Human Development Institute (SARTHI) is a non-profit government company for policy advocacy and training for socio-economic and educational development of Maratha, Maratha-Kunbi, Kunbi-Maratha, and Kunbi communities and the families dependent on agriculture in Maharashtra.
MAHAJYOTI : – The Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (MAHAJYOTI) was set up last month to work for the social, educational and economic development for the special backward class, OBC and VJNT communities.
(6.) “100 years of Chrysostom” is the longest biographical documentary.
Kerala celebrated the Guinness Book entry of the documentary, 100 years of Chrysostom, on the 102-year-old Metropolitan Emeritus Philipose Mar Chrysostom on Sunday.
The documentary made by filmmaker Blessy has been adjudged the longest biographical documentary.
Union Minister of State for Foreign Affairs V. Muraleedharan inaugurated the event at the SC Seminary Higher Secondary School grounds. Mr. Muraleedharan presented the Guinness certificate to Mr. Blessy.
(7.) External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar Visited Bangladesh.
Jaishankar is in Dhaka on a two-day visit, his first to Bangladesh after taking over the charge of External Affairs Minister.

(8.) Chandrayaan-2 placed deftly in lunar orbit
Chandrayaan-2 reached the vicinity of the moon and started picking up speed due to the moon’s gravity. “The latest LOI manoeuvre was essential in order to reduce its speed from 2.4 km per second to 2.1 km per second.
(9.) Government approved a proposal to provide the Defence test facilities of the government to the private sector.
Addressing a long-pending demand of private industries to provide a level playing field in defence manufacturing, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday announced that the test facilities of the government and the Services would soon be opened for the sector.

Prime Minister announced his resignation, addressing Parliament after it was recalled from its summer recess to decide the future of the 14-month-old government, accused League party chief Mr. Salvini of seeking to cash in on his rising popularity.
(11.) SBI waives processing fee on vehicle loans.
State Bank of India, the country’s largest lender, has decided to waive processing fees on vehicle loans to boost loan demand in the festive season
(12.) Mahindra Finance to buy 58.2% in Ideal Finance Ltd.
Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services Ltd. (Mahindra Finance) will acquire 58.2% stake in Ideal Finance Ltd., a fully-owned subsidiary of leading Sri Lankan conglomerate, Ideal Group. Mahindra Finance will invest LKR 2 billion until March 2021 for up to 58.2% stake in Ideal Finance, the company said.
