(1) President Kovind to become the first Indian President to visit Slovenia.

President Ram Nath Kovind’s three-nation tour to Slovenia, Iceland and Switzerland will make him the first Indian President to visit Slovenia. “To continue India’s engagement and boost the bilateral relations.

(2) J&K topped, While TamilNadu at lowest in coverage of iodised salt.

Tamil Nadu (61.90%) has the lowest consumption of iodised salt despite being the third biggest producer of salt in the country, according to a first-of-its-kind national survey to measure the coverage of iodised salt. While J&K topped the list with 99.80% of coverage.

The survey was conducted by Nutrition International in collaboration with the All India Institute of Medical Sciences and the Indian Coalition for the Control of Iodine Deficiency Disorders (ICCIDD).

(3) PM Modi, Nepal PM to jointly inaugurate Motihari-Amlekhganj cross border petroleum pipeline.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Nepal’s Prime Minister K.P.Sharma Oli will jointly inaugurate Motihari-Amlekhgunj cross border petroleum products pipeline through video conference on 10th September 2019. This is the first transnational petroleum pipeline from India and first South Asian oil pipeline corridor. The project cost is  ₹325-crore.

(4) MP to allow people to adopt cows for lifetime for ₹3 lakh.

Madhya Pradesh government has reportedly decided to let people adopt cows. Lifetime adoption will reportedly cost ₹3 lakh while adoption for a year will cost ₹21,000. People will reportedly be able to adopt a cow for a minimum of 15 days for ₹1,100.

Earlier Rajasthan, Maharashtra and UP also implemented this kind of schemes.

(5) Visakhapatnam railway station sets up ‘fun zone’.

A fun zone, the first of its kind in India, has been set up by the Railways at the Visakhapatnam Railway Station, Andhra Pradesh. The Gaming zone was inaugurated at platform number 1. The children can enjoy games during their waiting period for trains. The gaming zone has different interesting games for children & adults. The fun zone will have all the high-tech gaming activities at par with game parlours.

(6) Govt to provide 60% funding to startups for cow by-products.

Startups aimed at commercialising cow by-products like cow dung and urine will receive up to 60% of their initial investment as government funding.

(7) The Tamil Nadu government has signed MoUs with six firms for investments worth ₹3,750 crore.

The Tamil Nadu government has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with six firms for investments to the tune of ₹3,750 crore. The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the Investors’ Meet and Business Leaders’ Forum in Dubai. The deals are expected to generate over 10,000 jobs in the State.

(8) SLINEX 2019: Indo-Lanka maritime fleet exercise.

‘SLINEX 2019’, the bilateral maritime exercise between India and Sri Lanka commenced on 7 September 2019 at Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh). Sri Lankan Navy has sent two offshore patrol vessels SLNS Sindurala and SLNS Suranimala to India to participate in seventh annual Joint Indo-Lanka Maritime Fleet Exercise- SLINEX 2019.

The exercise signifies the desire of both countries to enhance co-operation and to further strengthen mutual trust and interoperability between the two navies.

(9) Google removes 24 apps infiltrated with ‘Joker’ malware.

Google has removed 24 Android apps from its Play Store after a new malware infiltrated them a few weeks ago. Dubbed the ‘Joker’, the malware had been installed over 4,72,000 times by Android handset owners across wide geography of the globe. The Joker-laced apps perform illegal actions including authorising premium subscription, read SMSs, steal contact information without the owner’s permission.

(10) Actor, Kathak Dancer Veeru Krishnan passed Away.

Actor and Kathak dancer Veeru Krishnan passed away. He was best known for his work in films like Raja Hindustani, Dulhe Raja, Akele Hum Akele Tum among others. He trained several actresses in dance over the years.

(11) A book ‘Fortune Turners: The Quartet That Spun India To Glory’ written by Aditya Bhushan and Sachin Bajaj launched.

‘Fortune Turners: The Quartet That Spun India To Glory’, book on India’s spin quartet has been launched. The book on India’s 4 spin legends: Bishan Singh Bedi, Erapalli Prasanna, Bhagwat Chandrashekhar and S. Venkataraghavan has been written by Aditya Bhushan and Sachin Bajaj.

(12) Charles Leclerc wins the Italian Grand Prix.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has won the Italian Grand Prix. The event was held at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza track, Italy. Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton of Mercedes finished the race at 2nda and 3rd position respectively.
